I have just returned from a car rally in my SAAB 900 Turbo Fitted with a Phantom Grip, which was 4000km's long in 8 days traveling some roads you would not take a 4WD. The Phantom grip worked fantastic, Thank you!!!

Celica Forum Post:
Hey guys... having just recently installed a Phantom Grip, i thought that I should write up a little review of it.
I just installed the following in my car

6 puck (sprung)
8.5lb. lightweight flywheel
Phantom Grip
Polyurethane mounts (Still need one more but I got them all.. kinda)

Anyways... so at first, I didn't quite see the difference (Mind you I have 14" DX stockies and PEPBOYS TIRES) until one day I was on a tight uphill curve on an onramp.... the can slipped at first... felt normal for a FWD car... but then I thought that I was too agreesive... then again I was at very high rpm (7k) and I was abrupt to get on it... so then I let off and went a little smoother... the car suddenly tightened its line considerably which took me by surprise.. I STILL got on it... but I was just smoother on the transition. I was surprised...

Another time was this morning... JOSE... remember the curve where we tested your sway bars? Well, I took the same curve in my car... and I was impressed by the LSD...

JOSE.. I invite you to come and try it.. its cheap, and it works NICE.. it WILL improve your SOLO UNO numbers.. guaranteed...

I got it back today. Had to get it aligned ,the tranny guy wasn't expecting offset strut bolts. I took a magnet I had down there, but the diff. cover was already on, so I stuck the magnet on the outside of the diff. cover (it was a very strong magnet).Should work ok.
Normal driving is well- normal. Corners smoother with TCS off than it did before with TCS on.It's the dry season here so I'll have to wait to see if it has any bad habits.
William:
Hit the offramps today, puts down power on exiting turns much better/smoother than TCS. How much better is it?
BMW M3's are getting in my way!SOOOOOOO NIIIIIIIIIICE

I have been tring to tell you now you see for yourself. jim
William:
I've got a few more miles on this, some of them in the rain. I have absolutely no complaints with this upgrade. The Green springs are not too tight. In wet turns I can provoke some inside wheel spin, but the car is still putting down power and accelerating much faster than before. I was playing with this in the rain (abusing my new super powers)when I got jumped by a Honda 4wd mini suv. I folowed him through a couple sweepers and stayed with him accelerating out of a couple tight turns. Taking on 4wd in the rain! I'm loving this thing.

"Earlier in July 2004 I had driven my 1973 Triumph Stag to the Vintage Triumph Register 2004 National Convention in Richmond Virginia with the original style "open" Triumph differential. Of course during some playing around with other club members, on a tight 'u" turn I absolutely smoked the inside tire due to 90% torque transfer to the inside wheel. My Stag is modified from the standard Triumph V8, this V8 has about 230 bhp pushing a 2600 pound car. STAGIn September 2004 year I had my local differential shop install a Phantom Grip while rebuilding my Triumph Stag differential using a Triumph TR4-6 Phantom Grip with uprated spring packs, then drove to another Triumph National Convention in Lake Tahoe NV called Triumphest 2004. At that show I autocrossed my Stag turning the 4th fastest time overall (sorry, no prize for 4th!!). During my 6 autocross runs I noticed a very reduced inside turn wheel spin to the point where I was not spinning the inside tire at all but actually getting traction! Driving on Colorado mountain roads in wet and gravel also makes a noticeable difference in reduced under/over steer conditions created by the full open differential. So it appears that this is a quick install low cost unit does the trick. I have enclosed a photo for your use on your web site showing my Stag autocrossing into a tight turn under acceleration and no smoking the inside tire! Sorry for the out of focus, that was my wife trying to stop the action as I went blasting by. Thanks for your help selecting this product for my application!"

"I just wanted to drop in and give my impressions on the Phantom Grip I recently installed. I installed the unit in a R-200 diff. for my 1970 Datsun 240Z. KMThe days of burning up the inside tire on sharp corners are finally over. It has transformed the car from a great handling car to a fast, great handling car. I don't have to wait for the car to settle out and straighten up before I apply full power any longer. The car really accelerates out of the corners. Straight line performance is much better as well with both rear tires digging. The car slows much quicker on downshifts, again is doesn't lock up that inside, unloaded tire anymore. I couldn't be happier with the results, price, and overall operation of my Phantom Grip. Most importantly what's cooler than leaving two nasty stripes on the pavement every time you side-step the clutch. I am attaching a photo of the car in action at a local AutoX for customer's rides album. Thanks again!!"

Matt Baade's 96' Dodge Neon equipped with nitrous and the Phantom Grip unit. He is in his second season of drag racing at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and is currently number 2 in points out of a 32 car field. We could not have done this without the Phantom Grip unit. It has performed flawlessly and easily absorbs all the racing abuse we can throw at it.

"As far as performance goes, I have been very impressed with the improvements in time after installing the Phantom Grip differential. I had 2 first wins, 4 second place, and finished the 2001 year 2nd in points behind the National Championship winning car in FSP. This was after a year of running 5-8 seconds off the nationally competive cars and drivers."

Phantom Grip is installed and working very very well. I recently raced my 1975 Honda Civic down the quarter mile and ran a 13.3@108mph. After installing a Phantom Grip I ran a 13.0@105mph. I didn't get many passes in and I am 100% sure I can improve on that time. Thank you very much, Phantom Grip, for supplying such a great product. See attached photos. As you can see from one of the photos both wheels are now spinning together off the line.

The one word I would use to describe the Phantom Grip is 'Smooth'. Power delivery is a lot less harsh than I expected. It's operation is virtually seamless, with none of the 'hunting' for traction that some of the more expensive gear-based LSDs I have driven had. This is particularly important in front wheel drive cars, where you get a lot of steering feedback from drive torque (torque steer). Of course, being smooth isn't the only thing a LSD needs to do - it also needs to be capable of holding the power. I have been running the Phantom Grip on my E Mod turbocharged Civic, and have been impressed with it's ability to maintain traction even under full boost. The installation was straightforward, and the value of the Phantom Grip is unbeatable.

Rivergate Racing is currently racing five CRX/Civics in SCCA's Improved Touring C class. Two of these were bought with the Mugen limited slip (about $1300 each!). We have installed the Phantom Grip limited slip in the other three. I raced one of the cars with the Phantom Grip at Virginia International Raceway. Two weeks later, I raced one of the Mugen equipped cars at Road Atlanta. I was frankly surprised to find that I prefer the action of the Phantom Grip by a significant margin, over the much more expensive Mugen. The difference was in the feel. The Mugen would turn loose if I overdrove and hit a curb exiting a corner. This upset the balance of the car. With the Phantom Grip there was no spinning of the inside tire, yet I was never conscious of the action of the limited slip--the Phantom Grip just works! Will Perry
I bought a Phantom Grip from you late last month and used it in an autocross this past Sunday at Danville, VA airport with Triad Sports Car Club. I placed first in D-Mod with my 88' CRX. Usually I struggle on this particular course but finished 1.5 seconds ahead of my competition. Thanks to the Phantom Grip. Just wanted to say thank you. After the 1999 race season, I installed a Phantom Grip Limited Slip in my ITC Honda CRX. In 2000 I have run nine races, and won all of them but one. My friend Vesa and I were so far in front in that race that we just played around with each other, while talking on the radio. Wins included the Pro IT Series Championship and the SARRC Invitational Championship race. Without question the Phantom Grip has made my Honda faster.

I purchased a Phantom Grip for my CRX from you this past winter and it worked out very well. I used it for a 6 hour endurance race and WON!! The second pace car was 7 laps down. I've since turned the car into an oval track (asphalt) racer (stripped it out and added a full roll cage).

I want to thank you for all your support. When I went looking for a LSD for my 2003 MINI COOPER S racecars, I had a difficult time finding any. Quaife finally made one and I put that in. It was a hugh improvement over the stock open diff. Then I heard about the Phantom Grip and how it worked. I was skeptical but I was still having problems getting the power down to the wheels and gave it a try. I was very surprised at how well it worked. I run two cars in the Grand-Am Cup Professional Road Racing Endurance Series. Our races are 250 miles or three hours long so I was concerned whether the Phantom Grip could hold up under these strenuous conditions.

Well as you know, not only did the Phantom Grip hold up, it performed flawlessly. You wanted me to return the Phantom Grip to you after one race for inspection. Our schedule was so tight with back-to-back races, that I wasn't able to remove it until after three consecutive races. I was again surprised when we found little or no wear to the Phantom Grip.
You have continuously made improvements to the unit and provided the kind of technical support a professional race team needs if it is going to be competitive. I tested the latest generation on Thursday. At this time, I can clearly state that in side by side testing in identical racecars the Phantom Grip outperformed the Quaife LSD by virtually eliminating any wheel spin coming out of the corners.

I'm convinced that your product outperforms your competition and it costs about 75% less than theirs. Thanks for your support during the 2003 season. I look forward as we continue working with you in 2004.

I have a '92 Pontiac Bonneville and got a unit from you. Got it installed, and God am I happy with it!
Thank You!

I received my Phantom Grip in the mail. I was so excited that I may be able to have a better performing car & relieve the hole in my transmissions and the hole in my pockets after 7 Saturn trannies. I installed the unit and went for a test drive. I was so amazed at what that "little box" had brought to drivability. Instantly, it went to a better performing car. The following week, I had a business trip where I'd be driving 4200 miles round. On my return trip home, I got caught in a huge rainstorm. The Phantom Grip helped me maintain control of my Saturn in a steady hydroplane of rain on the highway. I began to play with the throttle and was very happy at how the car responded under a full hydroplane. That was a moment that I have caught on videotape, and that is very uplifting from a safety conscious point of view. The car held a straight track, where as before it would veer to either side under much milder conditions. My website will have video and images of the Phantom Grip LSD doing what it says it does along with install pics. One statement says it all..."GET A GRIP!" Phantom Grip that is.

...But the best part was the Phantom Grip. VERY VERY NICE. I have a helical limited slip in my se-r spec v and this BY FAR is a better limited slip. It doesn't kick in obnoxiously around corners, doesn't jerk when it engages, and is EXTREMELY well balanced. I am thoroughly impressed. Now I just need to wear in the new synchros cuz it's a bitnitch and a half to shift...

Last Ditch Racing Team

Last Ditch Racing Team 3/18/03 Phantomgrip.com, manufacturer of rugged and affordable limited slip differentials is also coming on board with substantial support. The team had used a Phantom Grip in unit in their hybrid Honda CRX/Acura rally car with superb results. The team was so pleased, they approached Phantom Grip looking for product with their current rally car, a Subaru Impreza. “The difference was night and day with the Phantom Grip unit in the Honda, and we look forward to the same improvement in traction and handling with the unit in the Impreza,” says Cassidy.

Last Ditch Racing Team 5/30/03 Cassidy attributes their performance in the mud to the aggressive driving and their recently installed Phantom Grip rear limited slip differential unit. ”Even with all wheel drive, we often found the car going in un-intended directions,” said Cassidy. “Without the Phantom Grip unit, our weekend would have been less enjoyable!”

I heard about your product from a friend after discussing the single wheel pull (FWD) problem with our highly modified Toyota Solara's. GAI had my differential to you for installation of your LSD. The unit was returned in a timely manner. Between the mechanic and I have put over 400 miles on the unit and it works fantastic. It has completely eliminated the severe torque steer I was experiencing with hard acceleration. More important it allows me to get my 290 (+) FWD horsepower to both wheels for unbelievable launches. You make a great product and I've put the word out and a link to your site on my web-page. Keep up the good work!

I am a "1/4 mile freak", meaning that I'm always trying to improve my E.T.'s and to do so, you need traction first, in order to launch on your power band. To get that traction you need an LSD or some slicks (or both). The aftermarket is now growing for my 2000 Celica GT-S so, the LSD available from TRD(around $800)and now Phantom Grip for way less money. This is how it helped me: before the Phantom Grip LSD, my 60' was 2.34-2.41 sec. with 14.63 sec. at 95mph in the 1/4 mile. Now with the Phantom Grip, I've been to the track twice, and my worst 60' was 2.26 with a best of 2.20, and 14.15 sec. at 97 mph. Thanks to this LSD I am really consistent on my improved times.
